I am re-installing my instrument gauge cluster on my 67 convertible. I took it apart 5 years ago. I can't seem to figure out how the speedometer cable drive fitting attaches to the back of the speedometer?
Please help. I have been through all my books and the assembly manual. I can't figure it out!
Thanks

Both ends have knurled nutsd to screw onto the recetacle - either the driven gear bullet in the trans or speedo meter. One nut is bigger than the other.

Thanks Everett, I guess I have miss placed the Knurled nut. My cable has nuts on each end. The small nut screws into the transmission and the largeer nut screws into the Drive Fitting. So then there must be another nut that goes from the back of the speedometer to the drive fitting? The drive fitting has a O-ring in the middle then it tapers to the end that connects to the back of the speedometer.
Anyone have a picture of the nut I am missing?
Thanks

My speedo cable had the plastic speedo gear on the end of the cable with the small nut. I pulled the cable out and switched it so the plastic gear inserts into the drive fitting that screws into the large nut. Now the end with the small nut screws directly into the back of the speedometer and the end with the drive fitting inserts into the transmission with a retainer and bolt.
Everything fits so I think this is correct.
