After reading many many posts over the last few years, it is time for me to start on my 69 project. This site is one of the best resources on the net. You guys are some of the most knowledgable car guys around (from my limited perspective)! I am glad that this site exists to allow us to talk about our problems/solutions.

Now to my question to the group. I have a shell of a 69. The floors have already been poorly repaired and I plan to start with a new floor and trunk pan. The frame rails seem to be structurally sound, but I might as well replace them while I am there. I plan to use DSE mini tubs and big ol 335's on the back. Now, I dont see a reason to put new frame rails in just to modify them. I saw in a magazine that AME was selling a rear subframe 4-link setup that requires no modification of the trunk pan and still allows room for 335 and the stock fuel tank. Does anybody have any experience with these?

Also, I dont plan to have more than 700 hp (crank) on this car. Is this overkill? Thanks for any advice you can give.

Wow, thanks for the link. That looks awesome. It definetly has a coolness factor at a big price. I may end up with this unless somebody here slaps some sanity into me...

This looks like a nice set up but what about the conectors.

If AME doesn't sell them I think it wouldn't be too complex to make some DSE style connectors that weld to that crossmember.

I used an AME front clip and the DSE connectors were easy to modify to fit. I think the same could be done with their rear clip.

I cant find any other replacement frame rails that do not require cutting on the trunk pan or notching the frame rails themselves. Anybody know of a product that I am missing?
