I have a 700 R4 in my 69. The transmission shifts very quickly from 3rd to overdrive. Anybody know how difficult it is to change this setting?

You can change this by adjusting your TV cable.

Is that the cable coming out the back of my Flat screen? just kidding. Really I dont know what this is though. Where do I find it and what does it do?
Thanks, sorry for the ignorance. Never been much of a tranny guy.

Or by changing the weights on your governor...

Unless your tranny was set up to run with your specific rear axle ratio, it will not shift perfectly into 4th...

Your T.V. cable (throttle valve) is what is hooked to the accelerator cable of your carburetor. If it is set wrong your car may shift all four gears right away. I wouldn't mess with the governor, until you can't fix the problem via the T.V. cable.

Here are instructions:

woah!! hey, look in ecklers corvette book/website. buy the small elect switch that plugs inline and that will solve that issue. its all elect and it really does work. i used it and it works great. just a simple plug in to elect. self contained, no wires or switches or buttons etc to run. 30 min job. it makes it hold a little longer(more like normal) . I think it cost me 27.00 and i put it on myself at the next oil change.:thumbsup:

The fact that the TV cable effects shift points doesn't mean it is intended to be used only to adjust the shift. The TV controls internal pressure in the trans and communicates just what is going on with the engine back to the trans.

Thanks again everybody for the help and Happy New Year. I installed a Retrotek Speed Throttle body on my engine. It has a standard Holley Kickdown bracket and throttle cable. I think the kickdown is different than the TV cable correct?? Other than these two cables this is all I have.
My tranny was installed by a very reputable Tranny shop . He does alot of racing trannys. Anybody have a picture of what the TV looks like on a carb or throttle body?

Turns out the kickkdown is the same thing as the TV cable. My adjustment was loose. I played with it a bit and got it adjusted. Now it shifts all shifts where they should be. Thanks for all your help.
Dennis, your white camaro is beautiful. Looks like you guys have a good club out in NoCal.
Good Luck.
