I am new to the site...

I just bought for my wife a 1976 Camaro type LT with 58,000 original miles.

It runs great and needs a lot of cosmetic attention. It sat for 8 years, a one owner car. I noticed that the tach doesn't work. any ideas where to start?

fuses etc...?

Is it plugged in to the distributor? That is where I would start. If it is, check for continuity between the tach and the distributor. If that checks out I would use another tach and see if the signal is being sent. If it is being sent then I would guess the tach is toast.
