I had problems with my m-22w grinding when hot abouve 45oo rpm going into 4th gear. The original builder was willing to warratny it but was over a couple states away soi had a local guy who builds muncies only doo it. The trans had maybe 2k miles on it. Heres what he found. Input shaft endplay was pretty loose at .122, so he shimmed it tighter. weak synchro for 4th gear and a weak blocker ring for 3rd gear. He also noted the shift forks were wearing pretty badly for only having 2k miles on them and said the gm ones were much harder and lasted longer. Hopefully this spring it will be nice and tight and shift awesome. The endplay makes me wonder a little bit but the allthe gears are much tighter now and neutral is a more positive slot thenit used to be. He also setup and shimmed the shifter. Cazn anyone thinkof anything that i may need to check?

Sounds like your trans had the low grade 14A synchros in her. Are there any numbers on the defective ones, maybe 297A?

You need the 14D synchros for serious abuse.
