I'm looking around for a 70 to 72 Camaro to put an LS7 crate motor in (the old one, 454/460 horse) I really like the looks of the RS front end like my old 70 1/2 Z28 had, but all the cars I'm finding are the std front with the bumper going all the way across the front. What does it take to make it look RS on the front? Will the rubber bumper bolt in needing only the extension and grille, or is all the front sheet metal different. I was thinkin' my 70 car had round turn signals/parking lights, but the only picture I've still got of it are from the rear.

Sheet metal and associated hardware is different. Urethane nose piece, split grill, etc. I read a post (http://www.camaros.net/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=31301&cat=11&date=1196250905) in the classifieds section that indicated you could give it the RS treatment for about $2K. Ouch.

Since you're using a crate motor I guess it's safe to assume that originality isn't a concern. You can install the split bumpers and leave the rest of the front end non-RS and save a bunch of money. It's not "correct" but looks pretty good.

Yeah, there're a lot of em on E Bay that way. Some of em are even advertised as "split bumper cars", whatever that means, since they just had the bumper taken off and replaced with the two. Just ain't the same. Guess I'll keep looking.
