Hello all,

I'm just wondering...if my future planned combo will have enough "umph" to make it into the high 13's. At least in "theory" anyway.

The Engine:
327 bored .030 for 333cu in.
compression about 9.5:1
Chevy Vortec '8060' heads
Crane 266 cam (210/216@.050 .445/.445 114lsa)
Doug Thorley 1 & 5/8" tri-y full length headers
E-brock performer Vortec intake.
E-brock 600cfm carb.

Transmission:
Th350 with Transgo stage II shift kit.
Stock Converter (since I have a mild cam)

Rear diff.:
Stock GM 8.2" 10 bolt
Eaton 8.2" posi
3.36 gears.

Suspension:
Rear: Hotchkis 3-leafs,poly bushings.
Front: PST Poly rebuild on stock susp.,Moog "Z/28" springs, Hotchkis or Addco swaybar.
KYB gas shocks all around.

Tires:
BFG street radials 235 60R 15's

Car Weight: not sure (3500lbs. if I had to guess)

This is just a street car, certainly not a serious drag car. I know that there are way too many variables to give an exact answer.

Just wondering if anyond out there would have any guesstimates what a car like that would do at the track.

Thanks everyone,
Mark P.

Yes if you get good traction. You might be surprised how quick that bugger is. I know PDQ67(spelling) has had a screaming mild 327 in a car before, maybe he will chip in. He had a 4 speed though but you have better heads/intake combo.... Should get you into mid to low 13's with a convertor...

I knew it !!

As soon as you swapped the P/G, you'd wanna race it. What if......

Well, can't blame you. Lose the weight (on the car), I believe you should be at high to mid 13's.

Estimates are as follows:
300 RWHP = 13.20@103mph
275 RWHP = 14.00@97mph
250 RWHP = 13.59@100 mph all with 3500# and near perfect conditions. Only ESTIMATES !!

Good luck..........

Thanks for the replies,

It's nice to know that my "plan" just might have enough "umph" to make it into the 13's. ...

I just don't want to be embarassed by getting beat by a 17 year old kid in a stock Honda Civic with some stickers and a fart pipe if I do run it at the track. redface.gif

I might go with the Vortec Performer RPM intake instead of the regular Performer intake if I can make it fit under the stock flat hood. Although, a cowl hood & functional cowl induction system would be nice... smile.gif

The only part of my "plan" that I have in place so far is the Th350 tranny. Yes, going from a PG to a Th350 changed the "personality" of the car.

Everett...somehow I knew I might hear from you on the PG smile.gif It's probably a little unfair for me to compare an old PG in need of an overhaul to a freshly built Th350 with a shift kit. ;)

Thanks,
Mark P.

absolutely high 13's. if the motor is running right it should run mid 13's easy, with a little practice and traction. my guess is mid-low 13's if you can get the 60' times under 2.00, that will be the big challenge. the motor that came in my car was a tired old 74' 350 out of a truck, factory 68 iron manifold and quadrajet, 3000 stall in a th350, and a 3.73 posi. this thing flat layed down at 5500 rpms due to old cheap valvesprings, and i ran 13.80's w/ a 1.83 60', on bfg "hockey puck" street tires. your motor is surely making more power than mine was. good luck, and be forewarned, it sounds like you might be catching the racing bug, for which there is no cure ;) good luck!
