I want to swap my kick panels from AC to non AC as I'm putting in Vintage Air. That way I can have fresh air vents. If I buy the non AC vents from a repro dealer, is that all I need? Are there any other parts to buy for the conversion? I have the parts for the left and right dash vent "doors". Do the vents on the non AC kick panels protrude into the hole a couple inches like the pass. side AC panel?
Thanks in advance!
John

Would the heater control be different I am thinking it would be but I don't remember.

The heater control should be fine. Vintage doesn't use the vacuum control on the heater control, so I will just do away with it. That vacuum door on the original kick panel is the only thing involved in the heater/AC on the original kick panel (besides the vent control which is on the above kick panel). I'm wondering if the non AC kick panels "protrude" into the vent hole 2-3" like the pass. AC one does. Because of the possibility of water leaking around those vents, I want to have the best chance of sealing these areas up. I'm interested in exactly how the non AC kick panels mate to the vent hole. (keep it G rated please)
Thanks,
John

I believe the protrusions are the same on both the AC & Non AC. Wish I would have went with the Vented type when I changed mine. There's no way I'd do it over though!

On a side note what did on the protrusion was cut off the 1/2" lips that ran around the edge. This made it way easier to install.

Might be a good idea to leave a little bit of the lip. The water drains down the cowl and hits the vent part of the kick panel, and that lip keeps the water from dribbling into the inside of the vent.
