Comments on PUI standard black interior front and rear seat covers? I see Rick's carries this product.

Fit, finish? I have 69Z.
Thanks!

I used their Comfort Weave on my seats.
Nice covers. Seem to be well made. Weren't too difficult to install. But I have zero butt miles on mine so I can't tell you how they're going to hold up.

Stay away!!!! Anything PUI is not of good quality. I am not knock on anyones car who has used it. If you have already gotten them on then your in the clear. I actually talked about this company today with the guy I bought my Trim Shop from. He told me that I should never order anything from PUI nor should I accept a job from someone who brings in PUI pieces. He's been in the business 44 years and knows his stuff. I am currently in the process of installing seat covers(CARS), door panels(PUI), and a convert. top on a 62 Impala. The seat covers fit OK(had to cut them apart and tighten them up in some places), but the door panels. OH DEAR LORD!!! Awful. Half the pieces are wrong, not completley assembled, or are missing entirely. Do what you want and take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I would think twice.

In used PUI and I am happy after 3 years. Some of the gurus have commented that the PUIs are too "puffed" up compared to the originals. What other brands are there out there? Everyone seems to sell PUI.

I'm no guru, but used all new pui standard stuff in my 68.

The door panels are too "puffy" they do not look or feel like the originals, not even close. They do look nice, just not exactly the same design as the originals.

The standard seat covers are another story all together. Exact match, but... The pleats are pulling out. Started about 6 months after install, and has continued to this day. They're almost flat now.

Is there anything else?

It appears replacing interiors is an adventure! I first ordered sunvisors, the Distinctive Industries brand from Classic Industries. They were nothing more than non-padded, vinyl covered, pieces of cardboard. So, I quickly ordered a pair of PUI's from Rick's. The PUI sunvisors were padded and nicely made, but only about 2/3rds as thick as my originals. So, I returned the DI brand and ordered a second set of PUI's from Rick's, since the edge of one sunvisor was mis-sewn. When the second set arrived, I kept the best two out of four.

Second problem: Having ordered other pieces of interior, I found that the Distinctive Industries material was spot on for color match, but definately an economy product in the quality department. PUI had by far and away the better product, but the color is a shade darker from my original standard red upholstery. I went with PUI and really like their Gold Edition door panels. Yes, they are slightly puffier which is only really noticed if you hold up an original next to the PUI. At least I can obtain extra material to cover my inner pillar posts as original. I don't want the textured urathane substitute. As for the dash............the story is to be continued.

Personally I don't see the door panels being 'puffier' as a problem. I'd think that would look nicer...more modern. Maybe more defined. I don't know....
Unless you're restoring a car to factory condition for the show circuit, what's the problem?

After having personally seen and used after market parts....interior, exterior....whatever, I don't care who you buy from, it's going to be hit or miss and rarely ever match the factory part. There's no way they can. I've learned to get past that. Am I defeated by the suppliers and the quality I have to deal with? Maybe. But then I'm not restoring a spot-on original either.
