another console question. I have the aftermarket gauge pod with the 4 2-1/16 gauges. the gauges fit very snug making it impossible to fit the securing brackets on. has anyone else experience this. it appears that the brackets are not needed but there would be nothing to hold them from rattling out.

Jason,
The gauge pod doesn't need anything to hold them in place. The fit should be tight enough to keep them from moving. Pillar post gauge pods are the same design (no brackets).

Agreed, mine have been in console for about 3 years and still very tight.

No problems here either. Not even the pod is attached, and it never goes out of place. I installed a multi pin connector, so when I need to remove the console, I can unplug & remove the gauge pod as an assembly.
