I am honestly not sure what I am looking at here. I am looking for c-clips but I don't see anything like that. Is this a different set up? I need to take out the axles for my disc brake conversion.

The bolt to the right of the pin needs to be removed first. Then the pin slids out. Now push your axles in toward the center of the differential and remove the c-clips using a magnet and a screwdriver. Once they are removed you can slide the axles out of the housing.

1.Remove bolt (in yellow circle) 2. remove pin (red circle) 3. c clips will fall out through the window (red arrow) when you push in the axle. I find it helpful to put the pin back in.... just in case you turn the axle the spiders don't fall out.

What he said^^^ Be careful that small bolt likes to break and be a real pain!

Is there a bolt and pin for each axle?

No, just what you see in Jeff's picture.

How do you get the pin out, it seems like its in there pretty good?

May need to give it a few love taps with a hammer once the small bolt is out.

Might use a 6 point wrench and tap on it with hammer , to remove. I also would go back with a new one but not necessary. Usually the bolt head gets chewed up.
If the large pin in loose in the case, might look at it for wear, go for a new one if necessary. Put the C clips back in with the rounded edge towards the center or pin. If you look at the C clips closely, you will see what I am talking about. If this is a GM P/trac, use the GM additive also.

Is it ok to push it in and go that way? Is there enough clearance?

Rotate the carrier so the bolt end of the pin is exposed first. Once you can reach the threads on the pin, reinstall the bolt and you can use it as a T-handle. That way you can twist the pin while removing it. It also works the same for installation.
I would also replace the axle seals if your kit doen't already come with them. Be careful reinstalling the axles so you don't damage the seals.

You guys forgot to mention Step 1 - Release the Emergency Brake!

The axles do not come out when that is engaged. But it only took me an hour to figure that out.

Here's another one for you. I can't figure out where to fill the rear differential. I'm sure there is a spot but I sure can't find it.
