Thanks ya when I first got it the camaro its color was orange i did not like it so i had it painted purple/blue thinking the original color was orange...That was about four years ago and about a year ago I had it shiped down to florida so I could get on it again thats when I looked up the numbers on it and fond out it was royal plum...I still was not for sure it was cause they did such a good job covering up till today...My wounderfull bf bought me a new windsield header for it for christmas so I started in on it today...I had a very hard time trying to get the old ones off but I finaly got it off well the color under it is royal plum :hurray:So thats what I did today heres some pics

When I had it pianted they replaced the quarter panels well they put to much filler so it has cracked thats why I want to do it myself this time...

When you work over the splices at the top inside ridges, you want to get some marinetex epoxy putty to go over the joint first--grind everything away and go with this first--it holds better than anything else and is waterproof--wont wick moisture like bondo

My Dad had a 63 Corvette That was going to be mine but he sold it and gave me the Camaro. It was going to be a Father/Daughter project but he past away 4 years ago....So to keep him alive in me I want to restore it by myself for him. I know he gave it to me for a reason cause when I get mad (like at my bf lol) I jump in it and cruise around in it...It just calms me down from whatever. I just love it so much I want to see it look like new again:D

Id kill for a 63 vette but the ragtop is cool too,sounds like your dad had good taste in cars and must have passed the torch to you, do him proud and bring that vert back to its glory days.

Just joined, I have had a few Camaro's of just about every year. Right now the only one left is my first purchase from back in 82, a 69 v8 conv't. I did a fairly large build on it the first time and finished it around '89. Well after 20 years of serving me well at shows,the street and track, it's time to go back at it. It was painted in laquer and over the last 5+ years the cracks were really beginning to show. So a complete strip is needed. The floors were never touched in the first rebuild so thats where I'm starting at now. I work at a body shop...as a estimator and after hours tinkerer. Every guy in the shop is actually a car nut so it keeps me energized and moving forward to get my baby back on the road!! I have the only soft top and the knowledge of how to perform certain functions of this rebuild is going to hopefully come from this forum..Thanks in advance!
