the gas guage in my 68 vert died. guage is in the dash. i thought it must be the send unit, as all the fuses looked good. we droped the tank, put in a new sending unit, no go. it does appear that i am getting power to the sedning unit.
i tried, without pulling the dash to replace a couple of burned out bulbs.
could i have fried the circuit board? would that stop power from getting to the sending unit?
thanks

I know my gas gauge was quite off (it would say 1/2 when it was actually 1/4, etc) but when I changed my tank, changed the fuse, and it works fine now. Seems like you've tried more than I had to but I dont know what it could be!

shouldn't be power going to your sending unit. there should be a good ground to the chasis and a return wire that is reading the resistance (ohms) 0-90 from that sending unit. the fuel gauge has 3 wires on it. the return wire from your tank (brown) a ground (black) and a hot (pink) with a tester you can check the wires at the gauge 12 volts across the black and pink and 0-90 ohms on the tan pending on your fuel level if you have those readings its a gauge issue. there should be some pics and more info on the electrical trouble shooting forum

whe we put the new sending unit on there were only two wires, one hot and one ground. do i need a third from the tank to the frame?

There is good info on troubleshooting the fuel gauge circuit in the Electical Forum, in the sticky for electrical basics; here is a direct link: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73968

tachman here:
need to know how to check your gauges, try my website www.tachman.com and click on troubleshot, this will show how to test your gauges and then click on wiring, lots of info there and do not forget to checkout the camaro and comments page!
