Got one for you; 67 Camaro w/ 327, power glide, std rear end; While accelerating, I can hear this high pitch noise coming from the rear end; the noise is only made while I press down on the gas pedal; the faster I go, the loader the noise gets and visa-verse. The noise is not coming from the "front" it is definitely from the rear. Any ideas? I'm thinking possible differential gear problems?
Thanks

It sounds like a bearing... Axle or pinion bearings... Also check to see if the rear brakes are dragging on the drums, Jack the rear end up block front tires and spin the rear tires around in neutral and listen.

Thanks; I'll check out the brakes first, then the rear end.

i would check the brakes first...take off the drums and do a visual look...

While you are under there you might check for exhaust leaks too.
