Can anyone tell me how many body parts have to be changed to make a 67 Firebird look like a 67 camaro? or does this not work at all? I have a chance to buy a 67 Firebird locally that might work.

I'm still looking for a 67 (or 68) affordable project to make my 67 camaro T/A clone car like I raced those many years ago.

The only body panels that are the same are the doors, roof & trunklid. Everything else is different. I've seen it done but it can get expensive and when you're done it's still a Firebird by the numbers if that matters to you. You might get away with the Bird rear quarters if they're good by filling in the louvers. If you're going to go to all that trouble and buy all those body panels why not just start with a rough Camaro.

Im pretty sure all the front bolt on sheetmetal, quarters, rearbody panel. Maybe the dash, but not sure on this one.

fenders, hood, you can keep your rad support, there are louvers on the side of the car you could fill them with filler or cut our a section out of 68 camaro quarters. tailpanel is different the bumper on the firebird is different.

Here is a list of body panels, chrome etc., that would have to be changed:

1) Fenders
2) Quarter panels
3) Tail panel
4) Rear bumper
5) Front bumper
6) Hood
7) Grille, headlights, etc.
8) Valance panel
9) Tail lights etc.
10) Side marker lights
11) Deck Lid or fill in holes on existing lid

This ain't including the interior differences and engine mount differences!

Heck yeah, you have a '68! My 2nd fav year!
If I didn't get a '67, it'd be a '68 no doubt!
Then it'd be a '67 or '68 'Bird if I couldn't get a Camaro. No joke.

I couldn't find a 68 Camaro in my price range so I had to settle with a "poor man's Camaro", a 68 Firebird!:yes:.....At least it's Chevy powered with a Chevy drivetrain!:yes::thumbsup:

Agreed. One of my favorite drivers was a 68 Firebird 400 convertible.

thanks, guys. Sounds like too much work. The Bird is an OHC six that has been converted to a 350 - might check it out anyways.

Hey Robert, we are neighbors I'm in Coquitlam also. Maybe you have seen me driving around in my Black 67. What is your budget range for a camaro, I am sure there has to be one around here somewhere.
