View Full Version : Anyone done a seat transplant?
davepl Jan 5th, 09, 08:30 PM I was wondering if anyone has done a seat transplant... I was thinking about upgrading to a more modern seat, and whether someone's been down the road of finding out what might fit, like BMW 3 series, etc.
I imagine one of the biggest challenges will be seat back height, since modern seats are a lot taller in general than 1960s parts.
TJS69 Jan 5th, 09, 08:42 PM Many have done seat swaps. The fourth generation buckets seem to fit the best. I installed Corbeau GTSII seats in my '69. Prior to that I tried leather buckets from a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Those seats were too wide for a first gen. There are lots of companys that sell seats at reasonable prices now. When I was looking I was limited to Corbeau or Recaro.

My interior is blue, not very popular these days, so I'm going to have to recover them (in blue) pretty much no matter what.
JimM Jan 5th, 09, 08:54 PM Dennis (DjD) put fourth gen seats in his. He even had em reupholstered in black/white houndstooth.
Thread should be easy to search out.

chuckboy7 Jan 8th, 09, 05:34 PM i installed leather trams am seats in my convertible. i originaly orderd ATP i think but they looked too tall with the top down. the TA seats fit snug but very nice. I can't remember exactly but I think they were out of a 2000.
scblucam Jan 8th, 09, 05:35 PM I used seats ftom JEGS, and fabricated mounts similar to the post above. The side bolsters do make it harder to get in.
67CamaroRS/SS Jan 8th, 09, 08:20 PM I used Corbeau GTS2 as well. Here is a shot of mine.

Also think there is an aftermarket set made by Arizen with a houndstooth pattern (even matching rear cover, what I am thinking of going with):
