My 69 came with 373 but I wanted to change them to 410. I had a tranny shop do it. Now I am going to go back to 373 gears. I am thinking of doing it myself. Can anybody tell me how difficult a job this is?
Thanks

You'll need some basic tools, a dial indicator, inch pound torque wrench, foot pound torque wrench, LOTS of patiants, and more patiants :D
Lots of posts here if you want to search it.

I would say that you would need to do one or two first before you tackle it...its not hard but watch a video or have someone help you that has already done it...

You must know how to set the pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash. You also must know how to read the contact pattern so that you will know what adjustments need to be made to the pinion depth. You must be willing to assemble and disassemble it several times to get it just right.

For the last 39.8 years I've been happy with 4:10's. An overdrive makes it work. No down side except cash.

Thanks for the advice. I may have the same tranny shop put the 373 back in.
It cruises better on the highway.
