I'm just wondering if anyone out there has used any kind of Mercedes Benz carpet in there classic camaro and if so where they got it from. Im in the process of restoring my 68 camaro this winter and ive got a **** load to do, dyna mat, new carpets, paint, ex ex... I have seen many magazine builds use what they call " Mercedes " carpet. Is there any pros to this I would imagine it would be a bit thicker and help keep the road noise out. Mine is shot, I mean compleatly shot. Also while im on the subject, is there any little BS I should know about redoing a 68? Im sure most of you guys have come across bull**** while restoring your own car. so far the only huge problem is the trunk and driver side floor pan need to be cut out due to rust. God damn rust never takes a day off.

Hey Mike, welcome to the site... You'll find the folks here very helpful. Since info posted in the forums represents the site as a whole it would be greatly appreciated if you would not type cuss words into your posts including taking the lords name in vain. The use of damn, hell etc is ok thanks.

I think "mercedes" refers to a type of carpet, not the car company?
have to dig around to find that reference though.
But yeah, what Dave said. Bunch of companies sell carpet custom cut for the car. Best way to go IMHO.

May be referring to the more modern "cut pile" style of carpet, vs the OE "loop" style. Plenty of threads here about the cut pile carpet in a 1st gen, here's a good one.
