I always get the weird problems ----

Original Bolts, Original Wiper Transmission, unmodified body mounting points...

The bolts won't bite the threads. They don't seem long enough. Am I doing something wrong here?

Make sure that the aluminum pieces (that the bolts go into) are oriented correctly. It can be easy to have them 180* wrong, making the angle to the cowl all wrong.

I've never encountered your issue before, but it's all that I can think of off the top of my head.

wiper bolts come in two lengths, long for motor to cowl and short for trans to cowl. Which one are you having issues with?

It's the shorter bolts that go into the body, under the cowl vent. I was wondering about if they were 180 off. Should the knurled knobs point straight up or forward? I am not looking at it at the moment so I am guessing at the angle.

They should match the angle of the windshield (certainly not straight up), the aluminum pieces should be flat (same angle) with the cowl.

If the bolts aren't grabbing, spin it around. Easy enough to check

Well the plate was upside down and now the old transmission fits but the new repro one just barely keeps the screw from biting. I'll pick up some longer bolts to work if I can find some that fit at the hardware store...

Ive never used a repo wiper trans so I can't comment to the fit.

As Kevin mentioned, the wiper motor mounting screws are the same except longer. Might end up using those, as I'm not sure if you'll find anything at the HW store. Can probably find the size/thread pitch, but probably not the countersunk head.

I used repro wiper motor screws to hold the transmission on, at least on some of them. Only thing that matches em.

The repro guys tapped one the holes on the new transmission at 12x24 instead of 10x24. I bought countersunk allen head screws and they fit wonderfully and can't be seen under the cowl vent.
