Picked up a set of 3.73 gears and what looks like an Eaton posi for a good price. When the stuff got here, I saw that the posi has an ABS ring on it. After a little more investigation, it turns out this setup came out of a 95 Camaro with an aftermarket 12 bolt rear end. The gears are standard Richmond 12 bolt gears for a 3 series carrier, I checked the numbers. The carrier doesn't have any casting numbers on it, it looks like they were milled off, and there isn't a part number or anything either. Is this a Moser/Eaton posi? I know the gears will work in my 69 12 bolt, will the posi work? Would be easy to remove the ABS ring.

I think this is the same thing without the sensor ring (scroll down to EP63):

Where are the internal parts for the posi? This is an Eaton case. Most shops that modify the Eaton will remove the casting numbers. I have installed several Eaton units that had been converted to 33 splines and they all had the numbers removed. The ring isn't going to hurt anything, so I'd just leave it on.

Thanks gear head, I was hoping you would see my post. I have all of the parts. I checked the spiders, you are correct, they are 33 spline. There are 18 clutch discs, and the springs are real heavy one, the 800 pound setup if I remember right. Did a little more research last night, now I'm thinking it might be out of a Strange 12 bolt. Probably a pretty good unit, wouldn't you think? I don't think I can use it because of the 33 spline axles though. Factory axles are 30 spline right?

Yes, the original axles are 30 spline. You could put 30 spline gears in it, or sell it or wsap for a 30 spline unit. Or get a set of 33 spline axles.

OK, thanks for the help! I'll try to swap it first, then it's probably off to ebay. I'm just looking for a stock posi, nothing special. Do you have anything that would work?

I have a new set of 30 spline gears that will fit the case that you have. I think they are around $100, but I'd have to check to be sure. That's all that I have to offer right now. I also have a new set of the 200 pound springs.
