Am fitting standard LS6 Intake to a tall deck assembly. What is the correct way to fit the plates to the heads so as to always have correct alignment? Where can information on
this subject be found?

Hi Mooreboys-
I used to do this for a living, and I hope I can explain it correctly. You need to scribe a guideline on your heads from end to end. For simplicity I always use the port floors as my guide, since it will be easier to see at the ends. Then you need to scribe a matching line on the plates, including the ends of the plates. when you set the plates on the heads youll be able to line up the scribe marks and you'll know the floors are lined up. Do the same thing on the manifold.
If you're going to port them you can scribe a "centerline" instead and do all of your measuring off of that. I would check all your bolt holes and water passages first before you start cutting! I hope this makes sense- if not e-mail me.
Good luck- Pete

save your self for trouble of leaky intake manifoled and non-matching adaptor plates..
Buy TALLDECK intake manifold from edelbrock ,merlin or brodix.

Thanks Joni, I know that is the thing to do,
but this project calls for a GM intake to top off a L-88 clone. So I need to do the spacer deal to keep the GM L-88 Intake.

Mooreboys,
Hope whoever you are doing this for knows that an L-88 Clone can't be made using a tall deck block. It will stick out like a sore thumb. He might just get by with it with the tall deck manifolds because those plates are a dead give away. To each his own, IMHO. pdq67

You are correct, but the only one I'm trying to please is me. I'm not trying to pass this off as L88 to someone. Maybe the word clone is incorrect. What I am building is a
427 for my 67 Camaro Convertible using what I have available to me. Gen v tall teck, steel crank, +.400 scat H beams, L88/ZL1 GM pistons, L88 intake, with bowtie signature
series rect port aluminum heads. So the term clone is out. Lets call it a long rod
427 loosely based on a L88 for my convertible street machine. The word clone is out.
