I was surfing the net the other day and found a picture of the original yenko building in cannonsburg pa. It was taken about may of 2008 it looked vacant and run down. I wanted to post that picture here so that it could be viewed here but still need learn how to do that but anyhow what i am getting to is that it would be a real cool place for a yenko car museum for all the yenko super cars. I was wondering if anybody from the yenko organization may be interested in contacting somebody to do that. we restore the cars all the time here, discuss the cars here, sell the cars here, but maybe restoring that building would preserve the original yenko home and be a cool place to visit. I live about 30 miles from cannonsburg and i can help try to make some contacts with who owns the building and maybe get something started. I also will get some pics to to post here if someone can help me set up a photobucket or a email address to send the pics to thanks

I have driven past Cannonsburg 30 or 40 times in my trips to the Carolinas and I have always wanted to stop in an try to find the original Yenko Dealership. I have stopped for gas there and asked the question but nobody knew what I was talking about.

I've driven past Cannonsburg quite a few times since I got into Camaros, and never took the time to stop and look. I will be within 5 miles of there for a wedding next month. Think my wife would mind if we took a short detour?

I was at Pitt during the late 60's and we used to talk about Yenkos, but I never took the 30 minute drive to check them out. Shoulda, Coulda Woulda!!

here are a few pictures I took when I was there for a visit.

In the first picture you can still see the Yenko name on the forward roof upright

The building is narrow but long. The back garages were added by Don for the Yenko SportsCars shop. They had a chassis dyno in the mid 1960s where they tuned many SCCA race cars of all types.

I took a bunch of pictures on the trip. here are a few more

one is the radiation warning sign that is still posted on the storage lot Yenko rented where the famous "Yenkos in waiting" picture was taken. This lot was later condemned by Gov for high radiation

At the time I was there, it was a motorcycle repar shop in the front section and other businesses or storage in the rear section.

My grandparents live literally 15 seconds from that very dealership. It was a atv/motorcycle shop. Right now its currently some what abandoned and gets a few dead beat business in it once in a while. I live about 15min from it. I did one night take a walk around the lot and you just feel such energy knowing you are walking on ground that once had Yenko camaros and other super cars of the sort. As for the radiation field... to think i as well as my grandfather have played on that field when we were younger? I guess thats why i was glowing last week :-D

Great that you tried to find the original Yenko dealership. A shame that nobody was aware of their whereabouts as far as the car world goes. Sad.

The guys in the muscle car world know their whereabouts, it's just the locals that don't know. The dealership moved in like 72 or 73, and was renamed Sun Chevrolet in the late 70's or early 80's. To the locals, the building is just an old dealership building, or more recently a motorcycle shop. To some of us, it's the muscle car holy land!

I think there should be a historical marker on the property.

States and Cities have budgets for restoring and maintaining historical locations. Being in Pennsylvania, I bet they have Civil War markers all over the place. I grew up in a real small town in Okla, I heard some guy bought the old roller-rink and was turning it into a little "town museum". I bet he's getting state or local funding for it. If I owned that old Yenko store, I'd negotiate a deal with a few guys that own Yenkos to put on the show-room floor to draw some interest in the media and such. Maybe host a nice Camaro car show. I can't imagine "SuperChevy" or "Hotrod" magazine not being all over that.
