rtj Jan 10th, 09, 11:04 AM Here's some photos from another forum of a TT corvette. Basically the guy takes advantage of the turbocharger muffler effect. I thought this was good.

prostreet69camaro Jan 10th, 09, 01:15 PM WOW nice pictures. Cant say I seen one on the street though.
rtj Jan 10th, 09, 01:26 PM Well, it's too much fabrication for me.
But, the corvette above is supposed to be street driven, and this car too:

I wonder if he runs air filters on the street.
JimM Jan 10th, 09, 01:27 PM WOW nice pictures. Cant say I seen one on the street though.
Ya..... maybe we need a "pictures of race cars" forum?
Oh yea, those usually show up in bench....

Most ProStreet cars are a tire change away from being race cars. Or are inspired by racecars. But if you don't want me posting here, that's fine.
.Bad75. Jan 10th, 09, 02:58 PM I think the first camaro in the thread is the best looking and remains the most stock looking compared to the others lol stock ha.

Those cars appear to be in the NMCA(National Muscle Car Association). Another sanctioning body to check out is ORSCA(Outlaw Racing Street Car Association) as seen on HorsePower TV. If you get a chance to see an ORSCA event, check out the Limited Street class. It's the Outlaw 10.5 class without wheelie bars and it's some awesome racing.

Blade Jan 10th, 09, 04:39 PM sweet pics.
camaroman7d Jan 11th, 09, 06:05 PM rtj,
Don't sweat Jim he is just giving the Pro Street guys a hard time. What he probably doesn't realize is Pro Street is also a race class not just "street" cars. I didn't see anywhere on this site that said the Pro Street cars on this site must be street cars.
camaroman7d Jan 11th, 09, 06:09 PM Now about the twin turbos, they are great for race cars but, not very practical for the street. My personal opinion is they look ugly in most cases (they look ok on race cars). Too much plumbing, very hard to package nicely, I don't like when the plumbing goes into the passenger compartment and the big intercooler is where the passenger seat is supposed to be. Of course that's my opinion.
One thing that can't be argues is they make BIG power. I have seen some of those cars run in person, the MPH is just silly.
PRO 48 Fleetline Jan 11th, 09, 10:47 PM Sweet cars i think id still like to have rob saboury's 63 vette
68rs406 Jan 12th, 09, 12:46 PM Nice pic's! That is pro street as I know it!
Jim's just mad because he couldn't get past the red rope around the "pro touring" cars and the light was too bad in the car show arena for a picture...... :D
A few of those guys were in Vegas this year (the new design Camaro almost crashed in fact..), I see a couple of outlaw 10.5 cars there.
We actually were going to go with a 358" twin 80 set up in our outlaw 10.5 car but I think we have changed direction back to a nitrous motor, especially after seeing the nitrous cars do so well in Vegas this year. The turbo cars were fast, but the all motor (900" :noway: ) and a few nitrous cars held their own.
But no one could catch this guy right here, with a smallblock ford, nitrous and a single carb on a cast intake........and a famous last name, Bill Glidden

The photography is a fun hobby, especially since I can't afford expensive race cars!
Good luck on the Outlaw car.
rtj Jan 12th, 09, 03:30 PM Here's proof Camaro guys have a good sense of humor. I took it yesterday, sorry it's a bit out of focus.

A real sleeper.
SPARKY69 Jan 14th, 09, 05:10 AM Nice car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
camaroman7d Jan 14th, 09, 08:51 AM That is a very nice Nova but, is it Pro Street or Pro Touring? I have seen a few like this with very wide rear tires but large diameter rims (20" +). I know this is more of a show car but, It sure would look good with fatties and skinnys to me.
jackr Jan 14th, 09, 10:04 AM I am a believer in the twin turbo thing after riding in one that a guy I work with built. It is a 2001 BMW 5 series with a Lingenfelter 350 twin turbo. Kind of neat that he replaced the 530 badge with a 557 badge. Car is a total sleeper. Last track trip he could not hook up with his fat street tires so no 1/4 mile times available.
rtj Jan 14th, 09, 12:10 PM I was in the local bookstore last night and found 3 good turbocharging books. There is a lot more science involved in getting the right set-up.

Exactly. When they are right and you can keep them tuned, the power output is hard to match. Few things sound as bad as a turbo car that's not running, tuned right.
rtj Jan 15th, 09, 10:14 AM I've been watching this guy's build on another site.

T-Torden Feb 19th, 09, 01:18 AM I would like to see some more photos on twin turbo Camaros.
When you combine a couple of turbos and a 1st. gen Camaro, you will always get the ultimative good looking street/racecar.
The two photos here are one of my bodys new car - 1969 Camaro -Twin Turbo 427cui. from Nelson Racing in CA. -Waaaoouuww.

68rs406 Feb 19th, 09, 08:55 AM I would agree with Royce about turbos on the street, they are a packaging nightmare and not that great looking (the '69 above is a sweet looking package though).
I think the ultimate good looking street/ race car would be a centrifugal blower, they are easy to package, and easily streetable but will hang with a turbo car in most circumstances. I still love the feel of a NA motor making power, though to compete with a power adder is tough, they become pretty radical. But really, at what point do you have way too much power on the street, and there's always nitrous for the NA car.....:D
prostreet69camaro Feb 19th, 09, 11:18 AM Now that is nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought about buying some 18's for the rear tires on my camaro, but my wife said she would shot me. LOL
