Just joined, Hope to learn a little, contribute a little, and just have some good exchanges on the topic of the hr, day, etc.
I have restored cars as a hobbie, and some of the 30 plus years as a business as well. Most of my experience has been restoring Corvettes, fastback 65 to 70 Mustangs, and more than my share of 55 to 57 Chevs. Whether I am doing an early XKE or a 68 Z/28, the best word that comes out of it is Passion. Find the people that have a Passion for the car you have the same for....it is the icing on the cake!!
I am currently restoring a 68 Z that belongs to my friend of 38 years. I was with him when he handed over the $1200.00 for it 34 years ago!!!
It will receve a wll earned high point complete make-over. The car has been in its share of barns, parties, construction sites, races and wrecks.....Now it is time to put back as close as we can to what that no-frills British Green/white car was in its' begining.
We are well on our way in parts, a plan, research, and enthusiasm.
My passion for the car and the project equals or surpasses the owners. I currently am driving my 12th Corvette( triple black -6 speed C-5) Love it, but, working on my friends 68 Z is making
think that maybe my third Camaro is in the future to house that smallblock 2x4 400cid on the stand in my shop!.
One question for you all out there and I will retreat. I have not been able to find anything on chassis inspection paint marks. I am aware of the P-T-B stamps. I do recall some colors on the car....white, majenta or pink, and some blue. Can any one enlighten me on this subject? Thanks.
