Anyone find a good source for a repro set yet, or are originals still the only way to go?

I have the metal brackets from my originals, but the rubber portion is shot.

Thanks!

Keith

If you are patient, you can find some nice ones on eBay. Especially since you have the brackets. Also note that the top cap piece is glued on, and sometimes missing. Be sure to save that piece in the event you find some with it missing. BTW they are the same for 698 and 69, but 67 is different, and has a different top piece.

The metal pieces on mine have pulled loose - what can I use to set them permanently back into place.

The repros are TERRIBLE - I want to keep my originals

Yes. The top is held by a small metal bracket and screw by the quarter window, and the bottom is held on by the stainless rocker molding.

The new aftermarket piece looks different but works. It's acceptable for the short term but is not for show.

I was hoping to re-use my originals, The rubber is a bit stiff, but not brittle. Is there a way anyeone knows of to make them black again. I dont know of any paint for rubber

They aren't rubber, they are plastic, and they are pretty stiff. You can buy plastic paint that adheres pretty well to plastic. Use an adhesion promoter (like a primer). I bought mine at Rick's, but Fusion is available from all the hardware and home improvement stores. I have no direct experience with Fusion, but lots of guys on here report good results.
