Does anyone know if the linkage which one end goes into a bushing in the front subframe and the other end goes in a bracket on the side of the transmission is the same for a automatic and standard? This rod is shaped like a crooked L with a spring on the end that goes in the frame. It has another rod connected to it that goes to the steering column which turns the sleeve. I have a automatic and found these parts but they are on a standard. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob

A rod can be made to fit the purpose. the ends needs to be parallel once connected. I'm sure others here can define the answer better than me.

My suggestion is the spring end next to the frame, the spring sits upon a half-moon bushing. There is a pinch bolt at the column to adjust for length of stroke. The linkage on the side of the frame may have or maybe needs to be of a different length to match the stroke needed for the column sleeve locking.

There are multiple linkages depending transmission. The powerglide and 3 and 4 speed saginaws used 1, th350 another and the muncie 4 speed another. Not sure about the th400. What trans do you have? I'm pretty sure the end with the spring goes into the trans hole. There are good pics of the linkages for each trans in the AIM.

Kevin, I have the TH350 transmission. It looks like this search may be harder than I thought. I did not know they had so many different applications. Thanks

Robert, what parts do you have? you need the bellcrank assembly, rod to steering column and rod to trans. I may have some th350 ones.

Kevin, I need the complete linkage from the transmission to the steering column. I even need the bushing that goes in the frame.I bought my car last april as a rolling chassis.I did the body first and just got my engine and transmission installed and running. Now I'm finding all the little things that I need to make the car complete. If you have the parts please let me know what you want for them and we will work something out. Thanks, Rob
