Has anybody tried Carter's "Muscle Car" Fuel Pumps? Here's the SB version:

The BB version (for 69 Camaro) is Carter number M4530 (though I don't know if it has the return line provision or not).

Looks too good to be true. Flows 120 gph, 5.5-6.5 psi, looks perfectly stock, doesn't need fittings, and is priced right.

I paid nearly a $100 for Carter's Street Performance Pump, part number M6901 (for a BB Camaro) and the specs are similar to the much less expensive 'Muscle Car' pump.

Please advise and thanks!

I would be very careful going to anything above a stock style pump in pressure or volume, if you are using a stock fuel brass tipped pump pushrod.

I did this with a cast roller cam and I lost my fuel pump lobe. I went electric until it was time to pull motor again. I then went with a billet roller and a roller tipped pushrod as the cast roller ate the brass off the tip. This was a Comp "austratempered" cast roller.

Now I am back to the 4891 style pump.

I've never seen a stock brass-tipped fuel pump pushrod.

The warehouse I buy parts from has the Carter M6624 listed as "stock replacement". Stock flow rate and stock pressure.

CS3,..you're dead on. I called Federal-Mogul who owns Carter and the helpdesk confirmed that indeed, it's an OE replacement that flows 30 GPH, hardly a performance pump. Also, they look an awfully lot like the original AC Delco pumps so I'm guessing it's rebranded Delco.

The guy at the FM helpdesk indicated that Summitt Racing often doesn't do their homework for the FM parts they sell.

As thought, too good to be true ($29?).

A Carter SBC strip super pump p/n M4891 has the ratings of 120 GPH, 7.5-8.5 PSI.
Isnt that the specs that summit has the M6624?

Are you looking for a new fuel pump?

That looks just like the stock pumps we keep on the shelf at advance. It looks like it has a 5/16" outlet tube on it. Holley's base mechanical pump is setup for a threaded fitting with a 5/16" outlet and it only flows 80 gph. I'm running their 110 gph pump on my 406 and it accepts a larger fitting for a 3/8" outlet. I would be leery of those #s posted on summit's site. Call carter directly and see what they have to say.
