Just wanted to know if the adapter boss for an original 68 walnut wood wheel should be interior colour (my interiors black) or should be left natural cast metal finish. I know this may be a simple question it's just that I dont have anything to refer to.
Any help appreciated.

I've read it should match.. but haven't done so with my adapter...yet.

Ed's CRG report shows a red interior 67 with the N34 wheel, and the hub is the same red. All the ones I have ever seen match the interior. It (the hub) is definitely not natural metal finish.

I bought a used GM adapter off of eBay that was factory painted red. Since my interior is black, painting it black was a no-brainer. Bumble-bee stripe on the fenders and header panel looks good, but not so good on the steering column. :noway:

My 09A 1968 Ragtop with the RPO-N34 wheel has a black finish on the adapter.
Not sure exactly what was used. But I suspect a paint, as it is slightly worn from cleaning and a small amount of color or sheen from the base material is starting to show through. If someone has cleaned all the paint off one over the years, this could be why some have said it was natural metal...
