New to the site and would like to say hello.

I am currently running a 396 30 over with trw l2240nf30 pistons, 9.09 comp with the rectangular port heads 106.8cc #3919840. Stock carb and intake. Crane Cam #133942 216/228 515/510 112 lobe ctr.

At idle I have 13" vacuum at best.

I would like to swap to the aluminum Edelbrock 100cc oval port heads with a Weiand Stealth intake and reuse my stock 750cfm carb if possible.
I was told the heads would benefit by reducing front end weight, improve low end performance and increase my vacuum.

Is this a good swap or is there a better alternative.

The car is a 69 used 100% on the street.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

On your application the Edelbrock's are really the best choice. All the other aftermarket heads would have to be milled excessively to get the c.c. down far enough so you don't lose compression. I built a 9-1 427 with those heads. It runs on 87 octane gas and makes excellent power.

Welcome WIP. Where is home in Ohio? Your choice of heads will work well for your car. Not only will you cut 80# from the front of your car, the oval port design will increase the "velocity" of fuel in the ports which will lead to a better and more efficiant use of air/fuel. Bigger rectangular ports move much more air/fuel but at a slower rate, not great for street performance. The 750 should do fine but I would keep an eye on the proper fuel ratio. It may end up a little lean with the new setup.

Lets hear it.....................OH..................

Thanks for confirming my choice on the heads. I didnt want to spend that much and not get what I need.
