looking at a 540 made with a zz 502 block.it has a good usa made crank,but not sure if i like the 502 block.i have heard at 6o00 rpm plus,these blocks allow the crank to walk around..any input good or bad will help..thanks,denny

I personally have no problem w/ this only b/c I would build about a 5800 rpm max. "tow-truck" engine and either install a 4.25" or a 4.375" stroked crank using main studs.

And I'd cam her for right at a 5500 rpm hp point.

Imho, this is the cheap way to make a big inch street engine!

You go broke, sell it to a duelie guy and tell him to install a cheap Summit 218/228 cam in her and go horse trailer pulling down the hwy!

They have the same main caps as a 454HO or other Gen 6 block, you should have no problem with cap walk at 6K. Selection is limited on cranks with a 1-piece rear main but there are a few made. I'd have no problem making a 540 out of it, even a solid roller. Build it big and beat on it like you hate it, that's what these big-inch engines are made for.
