I have a 2000 Z28. I needed a new hood, so I bought the SS hood with the scoop in the hood from a GM dealer (GM SS Hood). I would like to know what it will take to change the intake to a ss style so that i will be able to have forced air induction? Is this a good option in terms of HP? What other type of mods need to be done to make this work?

An aftermarket airbox lid is better than the gm intake for power gains. Also you get rid of that giant airbox baffle setup. As I remember the z28 and ss airbox's are the same. The ss hood just routes the air to the front of the airbox opening. If you open your hood and look at the latch area, there are two slots in the hood where the air from the scoop comes through. Hope this helps.

If its a Z28 you do not have the slot in the Air Box that will match up to the GM SS hood. You will have to find someone local that has an SS and make a template and cut the hole. Personally since I own a 2000 SS I can tell you the hood is really just for looks. When its closed its close to the Air Box but not exactly sealed to it.An aftermarket lid would be a better improvment for performance.Just my .02
