I want to ask the age old question. How much tq. is to much. I mean if you have a motor that has 450 to 500 lbs of tq, at what point is to much that you just cant get it to hook up and you just wind up smokin you tires. Im talking about a street driven 68 camaro. I just think it makes more since to have 500 hp than 500 lbs tq. A'm i wrong on this. I just dont what my car to look like a top fuel car going down the road just to get the damn thing to hook up. Just some of you thoughts please.

Get more traction...
Use a better throttle technique. There is such a position as half throttle.
If you trade low end torque for high end torque, make sure you gear up to use it. If you're making 500 hp @ 6500 rpm and go through the lights at 5500, you're leaving a lot on the table. The average car spends over 1/3 of the quarter mile accelerating in high gear, so you need to cover the power peak in this gear.

Here is where you probably would benefit from playing with both D2K and DRAG sim. programs.

You can see for yourself how trends in power vs rpm range vs tire size and rearend gearing all interact. AND don't forget about car weight in here too!!!

They are a hoot to play around with and in my case midrange grunt can move my car very well if I can get it to hook!!
