I just bought the last of the parts to complete my 69. My question is this; When installing the rear panels do you have to do this before the sail panels are installed? The reason I am asking is I have already popped the sail panels in and they fit great, thanks to this forum!!! The extra material that is left at the top, does it go under the sail panel or can you fold it and butt it up against the sail panel? If anyone knows the answer or has pictures please respond. Thanks in advance!!!---Tony

Your rear interior panels can be installed after the sail panels. I assume the extra material you are talking about is from the headliner. There should be a cork tack strip on both sides where the sail panels fit. They install with 2 small screws. The material gets stretched/stapled to the track strips & the sail panels install over the excess.

I have already done the headliner. I was talking about the rear panels behind the quarter glass window crank. The panel that looks like the door panel only in the rear next to the rear seat. There is extra material on the panel to overlap the top just below the quarter glass at the felt. Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused. It looks like in some pictures I have that the extra material might go behind the sail panel at the bottom. I hope not but it may. Any help would be greatly appreciated.---Tony

Any extra rear panel material along the top should fold around to the back side of the panel. Should use glue/adhesive to keep it there. You're correct in installing the sail panels first.

So the material does not go over the top edge behind the seal at the quarter glass? Thanks for any help.

You may know this, but the extra material in the front goes over the pinch weld seam, and the pinchweld molding goes over it.

Sorry to AWOL this post but I have been going at the interior like crazy. After reviewing several pictures I found that the material goes go over the top and folds at the back of the seat. I cut the material at the end of the window opening and took the extra material and slid it under the sail panel. Folded the material over the top under the inside felt at the quarter glass. I also had to cut back the padding to the top edge of the felt. What a pain in the ass these were. I started to get the hang of it by the second one. By then it was too late. Next time she is going to the upholstery shop. I thought the headliner was a pain until I tackled the rear seat cover. The back side was easy, but the bottom proved to be a challenge. About everything inside has had it's moments. Thank the good Lord for Bud Light!!! I have come to the realization that I was not put on this earth to do interior. Although everything looks great and fit good, never again will I do this. If it wasn't for this forum I probably woul not be as far as I am today. I am about an hour and half from completing my car. 15 year project has finally come to a brief end. Next in line is the Vintage Air. i think I will just pay to have this done. Of course knowing me I will be under the dash once again. Nah!!! I can do engines, transmissions, rears but not interiors. I cannot wait until spring and summer. I will cruise his piece anywhere there are cruises. We have several in my area with a great turn out. Thanks again for any and all information given. you guys/gals have been a big help and have made my project a success!!! If I can share my knowledge or encourage anyone with there project just ask. My email is tsnow678@msn.com If you live near me maybe I will see ya around. I live north of Winston-Salem, N.C.. I will be in a blue white striped 69 Z/28 clone. Roll your window down and listen for the sweet sound of a solid lift screaming mouse.

You may have just answered one of my many 'interior' questions. I did not take my interior apart nor did I take the window felts and outside trim that holds, I think, felts. This pinchweld molding you speak of, am I understanding correctly that this hooks over the side panel and pinch weld and wraps around to the door jamb?
