I bought a 69 SS 396 in 1977.(1st car, garage kept) The rebuilt motor has about 3,000 miles, no body rust, decent paint. The suspension, steering, and interior need work; and I'm starting the process. I'd like to keep it original as possible, but I'm not sure how much that matters if it's not a numbers matching car. To begin with:
1. How do I check those numbers?
2. What company has the best deals on OEM parts?
Thanks

This link will show you how to decode the various block/transmission stampings and where to find them. Got any pictures of the car? http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml

Thanks. I'd already found all the #s, now I need to decode them. I do have some pix and will put them up when I get a few minutes to figure it out.
