This is at a local dealer. I went to look at it and there is a fair amount of rust under the vinyl top in the A pillars, behind the rear windor and in the rain gutters. Other than that it appears to be quite solid.

Go to inventory, page 2, 68 Camaro

For some reason pasting the link to the Camaro doesn't work.

Sorry, not sure why it won't work. I edited the post with directions.

Thanks,

Here is a quote from the dealer's description:

"The body and frame are free from rust. You may see some surface rust on the exhaust system and drive line, but the frame, floor pans, and body have no signs of rust."

Their description is much different than yours. I would guess that your description is much closer to the truth. My gut would say that there are more sins hidding under that paint if you are seeing rust in those areas. I think 17K is much too high according to what you say you saw in person.

I agree the price is high, trying to get some feedback on a realistic value. The paint looks original.

At least the pictures seem to show most areas of the car and disclose things pretty well. As good as pix can anyway. And if those are old 'cherry bomb' mufflers, man that adds like 3 grand to the value :-)

I only have pic to look at so based on what I see I don't buy the original paint and interior... The console lid shows extensive wear but the front seats look almost new, the carpet is not faded at all, door panels and armrests look mint, the rear seat seat back does almost looks like it was white and dyed. The vinyl top looks new with very edges at the seams. The paint though older looks too deep or liquid for a 40 yr old factory job, something about the trunk shots leave me thinking the pass quarter has been replaced.

Again all based on pictures and in a nut shell it really looks like a very old restoration that's been spruced it up a bit...

Well, it drives like an old car. Turn up the sound on the video test drive...

These guys are masters of photography. The paint on the hood looks quite faded in person but you can't see it in the pics.

I enjoyed the end of the Video where we are informed that the "Original" Radio still works.
Personally, I like the car, but the price is steep. I don't think it is worth more than $10,000.00. It is an excellent starting point for a restoration.

the vinyl top looks new to me. also, the ad says "5 speed manual" at the top. that could be an honest mistake of course. I'd ask them why they are downplaying the rust. The car has a lot going for it... I don't know why they have to be misleading about something that may be obvious to someone who knows these cars.

The top doesn't look new in person. It has been siliconed down in the rain gutter and the edges are tattered. The 5 speed is an honest mistake. It's a 3 speed.

From what I could see it appears to be legitimate. Only work it would need is possibly a new roof skin, rear window filler panel and the A pillars repaired. Nobody likes a tire kicker but I did mention the rust under the vinyl top and he said he had noticed it too.

Not sure how far they will come down. They just lowered it from $19,900. They lowered a bunch of their prices, looks like the market is getting slow.

that looks like a nice car , it has been for sale for several week's on ebay , this is a perfect example of the NO RUST thing , you see more camaro's advertised with ALL ORIGINAL BODY PANEL'S !
NO RUST EVER ! you know if you bid on that car and went to pick it up and found that like you say from a IN PERSON inspection that it will need a roof skin and other metal that would not be a fun day !!
nice car even needing work it's still a nice car but buying one sight unseen would be tough ,,,,
