Alright, I have a 1997 Z28 with a 350 stroked to a 383, cam, headers, just simple performance mods. A few weeks ago, I was sitting at a stoplight when all of the sudden the car died. Tried to restart it, but would only start if I gave it some gas, and then it would only idle for a few seconds.

After getting it home, I tried to diagnose it. Discovered that it only occurs AFTER the engine has reached opperating temperature. Called several mechanics that we know, and they suggested we replace several different things. We replaced the TPS, IAC, fuel filter, and the ignition control module. We also checked fuel pressure and it checked out fine.

Today, we checked the voltage on the MAP sensor, and it was slightly out of specs. However the Hanes manual we bought contradicts what the Autozone site, and some other sites we found say.

Does anyone have any clue what could be going on... we are out of ideas and begining to run out of money to waste on parts we don't need.

Thanks,
Casey

try posting your information here. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=9

its an lt1 specific forum.

have you cleaned the mass air flow sensor? if not, I would try that next. you can pick up a can of the cleaning solution at a local parts store for around 5-8 dollars. The coil could also be a problem. before I bought one of those, i would research on the website above for other solutions first. hope this helps.

you can also use a throttle cleaner on the map sensor to clean the diode off..it wont harm it!! try that first, sometimes they get carboned up and give a wrong reading to the computer...

Sometimes the TPS develops a dead spot near idle where the throttle spends most of it's time. Using a digital volt-ohm meter, you can probe the TPS between the center pin and one of outside pins. Open the throttle slowly and make sure the resistance change is smooth. Also be on the look out for dull connector pins. Shine them up with a small piece of 320 or 400 grit paper and dope them up with dielectric grease to keep the oxidation at bay.

TPS checks out fine, as does the MAF, and while I was asleep... my dad went and bought a new MAP. Called around some more, and most of the mechanics suggested reflashing the computer... Only problem is, I don't know where I can get a tune for the cam and to bypass the some of the emissions that were taken off.

Hopefully this is a 1/4 mile car. It's illegal to bypass emission controls in Texas.
