Just bought a Lokar universal cable and pedal assembly from Jeg's. I found a lot of information when I searched for "throttle assembly" but all of the pic's in the posts seem old and can't be viewed.. Anybody have a couple pic's of how the cable threads through and is held in place at the firewall?

Mine is to tight to get picture of, I had to change to cable throttle, when I installed
fuel injection this summer. I cut off the out side throttle arm welded it to the arm just
above pedal, adjusted a few times. Drilled 3/8 hole thru firewall there is a dimple for
6 cyl, car short way above pedal. It wasen't hard.

Don't have any pics available right now, but I can tell you that you have to unscrew the front portion of the bulkhead fitting and insert the threaded portion through the hole in the firewall, then reinstall the front portion of the fitting and retighten it.

Here is a pic from Lokar's website.
The end at the bottom attaches to the throttle pedal......... on the top of the picture notice the threaded portion where the actual cable exits the assembly......that's the two piece connector that installs through the firewall.

David, that's exactly the cable I'm running however mine has the black casing!.....It's an excellent cable that's fully adjustable at the carb!......I used an oversized flat washer at the firewall to cover the stock square hole!

I have this style cable on my Camaro and you're 100% correct...........it's a quality piece:yes:. I did the exact same thing with a washer that you did...........covered the hole in the firewall, plus I believe it adds some rigidity to the assembly at the firewall.:beers:.

Just be careful tightening the bulkhead on the firewall. It is aluminum and will break. Ask me how I know??

Once you mount the pedal on the inside you can see where the cable needs to go thru the firewall. Just pivot the pedal back and forth to get the general idea. Drill a pilot hole from the inside then you can drill it bigger from the outside.

Another thing you might do is put a little more arch in the pedal rod because I could not get full throttle on mine. That c-clip on the pedal rod is a pain to put in behind the motor.

Is it possibble to do this with the motor in the car? also is it possibble to use a stk 6cyl pedal or something that looks stock?

Ya six cylinder pedal, now I remember....That's what I did, I had (or a friend had don't remember) a six cylinder pedal so the cable dohickey on the lokar stuff hooked right up to the pedal. Went through a hole in the firewall (which was different than the throttle lever hole) and installed washers front and back.

You can see where it comes through the firewall in this picture:

P.S. Dave, yes I installed it with the motor in the car.

I used the stock pedal, I cut the outside arm off and welded it inside, used just enough
of the outside to clamp it on. I had to adjust my inside arm to get full stroke on my
throttle body. Pedal looks original, I wasn't going to spend a $100 for a pedal assy,

Thanks how much of a bear was it with the motor in the car?

Not really at all I did have to remove drivers valve cover, to get my hand in, to unbolt
pedal assy, and remove, most was outside car on floor welding. I'll climb under dash
see if I can get a pict.

It wasn't the most difficult thing I've ever done (removing a blower motor without pulling the fender was much more difficult), but unbolting the throttle lever bracket took some concentration with the motor in there...don't remember bleeding, cussing or throwing tools over it though (all of which I have done many times during other projects, LOL).

It is definitely not fun. The hardest part is getting the C-clip back on the throttle pedal behind the motor. If you have some long needle nose pliers you can put the C-clip on easier. Harbor Freight sells cheap long needle nose pliers.

I found my pedal on a 74/75 Nova, Ventura.

Did you have to modiry the novas pedal or was it a direct fit?

This is not hard, I spent more time looking for my old 6 cyl pedal, than it took to
modify my standard pedal. I tried to take pict this morning, I couldn't tell what it was
so no help. PM me in morning I will try to trace with posterboard and e-mail, and
and explain. The time it takes me to type this I could have almost made anothter

The Nova pedal fit with no modifications.
