Drag67Camaro Aug 20th, 04, 08:36 AM Here is my combo
350, 10.25:1, 76 cc double humps 202/160, E-600 on E-RPM intake, 224...470 cam Hooker Headers, dual flowmaster, 3.90 gear, 3200 stall, my best was 13.3 @ 100, 1.83 60', 8.5 1/8 mile
Now i have added 1.6 roller tip rockers, and exhaust cut outs mounted after my H pipe, any predictions? i also had a bad vac leak that is now fixed so car feels a lot better
Thanks!
Adam

69CamaroRacer Aug 20th, 04, 11:49 AM Let me go on a limb and say 12.99 @ 103
Drag67Camaro Aug 20th, 04, 07:00 PM I ran like a turd, 1.8 60's and 13.7 @ 96!! with and without cut-outs open, i give up! im goin with my 468 next season!
Novaguy73 Aug 20th, 04, 07:42 PM well Ill start with this....unless you have dome pistons you DONT have 10.25:1 compression, with 76cc heads. Next, your combo is mild to say the least, a 12.99 would be a great run with it, i would guess low 13's. I wouldnt give up on the 350 just yet. Heck im in the 11's {11.88@ 114} on 89 octane gas with a 350 and a stick}. And im sure with tuning and practice i could go 11.5. what all do you really want out of your motor? What are your goals?
Drag67Camaro Aug 20th, 04, 08:02 PM I should have been more specific, i do have dome pistons, I thought the rockers would help, and same with the cut-outs, did nothing but hurt me, the week before i ran 13.3 @ 100, a year ago i had stock stall with 323 gears and ran 13.5 @ 105, i know run hoosier Q/T, i would like a low 11 second street car, I know its possible with a 350 but what would be more streetable, a 500hp 350 or a 500hp 468? Thanks for the advice i appreciate it, i dont wanna sound stubborn but ive been with the 350 for 2 years testing and tuning all my $ into it and i hate being beat by 5.0 mustangs, i'd like to have the car people say "whoa thats fast" and have 2nd thoughts before they race me, this is all done at the track too
Nantooch Aug 20th, 04, 10:00 PM For that setup I would have gone with a 750 at least. I'll bet your starving that .501 lift you got going. I had great throttle response with a E-600, but it was too small. The other thing that is prolly killing you is all that room in the heads. Try out the a new carb and see how it reacts.
DOUG G Aug 21st, 04, 03:19 AM What are your shift points? Did you try to vary them? Launch RPM? Timming adjustments @ track? Lots of variables, and cut outs could change scavaging. Keep working at it and keep lots of notes.
Novaguy73 Aug 21st, 04, 06:43 AM Well yeah a 500hp 468 is "more streetable" BUT whats more impressive, when you run a low 11 with a small block or a big block? And i take it by your cam selection that your not willing to run alot of cam. I personally know a guy who had a stock bottom end 350,ported fulie heads, aprox 10:1 compression, ran an Erson HLM320 cam {wich wont comply with DCR standards but it seemed to work great}, and ran 11.86 in a mid 80's buick regal. So if you want that 350 to go 11's youll have to sacrifice some streetbility.....but who cares unless its your daily driver. If you have the money to throw at a big block you surely have the money to make your 350 roar.
Drag67Camaro Aug 21st, 04, 07:16 AM Thanks,
Novaguy, it is kind of a daily driver but just more of "good weather" the body is a good 20foot looker, but im not concerned with gettting the body in shape due to $10,000+ its gonna cost me, i plan on doing my 468 very budget minded, with a scat crank/rods, speedpro pistons, closed chamber oval port heads, maybe -206 or -215? i would run more cam now that i have a high stall, but i also would like the "ooo" factor of the BB
thanks i appreciate your advice though
onovakind67 Aug 21st, 04, 09:19 AM So you started out running 105 and after all these mods you've lost 5 mph? Sounds like you're going the wrong way. How tall are your tires? A 3.90 gear is a lot of gear for a 224 degree cam unless you have a method of reducing converter slip at the top end.
76cc double hump heads? I thought all those were 64cc versions.
Have you looked at the obvious things, like timing, throttle opening, fuel pressure, etc? I had a 331" Mustang on the dyno the other day that gained over 240 rwhp by fixing a problem with the throttle linkage, from 270 to 515.
RYAN c Aug 21st, 04, 09:51 AM if it was my engine setup like that...i would change the intake to a single plane. bigger, holley dp, and see how that works...you could probably spend a few hun and get that stuff. then i would change your heads to a 64 chev cc head maybe some mild porting...and good springs. still budget compared to darts etc...then swap out the cam for a more aggresive one. imho
Drag67Camaro Aug 21st, 04, 10:48 AM I did advance my timing which gave me 96 mph instead of 93!! We tuned it the best we could, I run a 26'' hoosier, I cant see how i lost 10 mph just by adding gear/stall/roller rockers, I'd rather not buy a new intake/carb/cam and redo the engine again as I've done this motor twice already, Thats why i'd like to just build the big block
thanks
RYAN c Aug 21st, 04, 07:44 PM with the spec above from my expiriance....it would be a great daily driver/good gas milage/etc...to go fast ya gatta give a few things up...more $$ than anything....but ya cant have everything unless you have thousands burning a hole in your pocket...lol...i dont ..
i just picked up another 69 maro 2 weeks ago..and am ganna do it once and right...if i can drive it down the track ....i can drive it down the street..imho..
it has a torquer intake...poop...882 heads...poop...short block ????hoping a 350..and a retarded big duration cam....750 dp holley...im looking to go fast...
so first step is 2" carb spacer with the torquer...im ganna do it on the next intake so ill see if it will help now..next is tune the carb..then a team g intake ...then change the heads and cam ...im hoping just the intake will wake this dawg up...it will only rev to 5500 rpm...might be the v sprngs ???
anyways man...if you want to go fast do it right the first time it will be cheaper...even if the parts wont work together right away..they will eventually and it will haul ass...
wanna buy an intake smile.gif
Novaguy73 Aug 21st, 04, 09:55 PM dude....if he goes to a 64cc head he will have 12:1 compression or so!!!! Read the post
RYAN c Aug 21st, 04, 10:27 PM "dude....if he goes to a 64cc head he will have 12:1 compression or so!!!! Read the post"
maybe????depending on pistons/head gasket, etc and if its really 10.25 with 76 cc heads...
anyways he'll make more power right???lol
with the right cam it could definatly be streetable...imho....that is if you are true in saying you want to go fast:)
and he said 11's...not too easy with what he has... ;)
Drag67Camaro Aug 22nd, 04, 05:12 AM Yea its really 10.25:1...
