I'm having problems trying to find a new heater blower & fan for my 69 Camaro. I've seen listings for a non-AC Camaro but will that fit? The part I need is the heater fan for 69 Camaro w/ factory AC. Any suggestions? Thanks.

call the guys @ Camaro Central and ask.. they sometimes have access to parts not listed on their website. (as-in used but serviceable).

The blower motor should be same weather you have AC or not. You can probably get one (usually overnight)at local parts store.

At least one difference between an Air and non Air blower is the Air blower has a ground tab on it since it it mounted in a non grounded fiberglass housing. The wheel itself may also be a bigger diameter.

The same fan is probably used on the Novas until about 1975. The one on my non A/C Camaro was removed from a '69 Nova. You should find one on eBay.

If I remember correctly from the old days when I managed a salvage yard there are a ton of GM cars over a period of several years that all use the same motor. The ground tab Mark C is referring to is a seperate little metal tab that goes under the head of one of the screws that holds the motor on and you will not have a ground on a car with a fiberglass heater box if you forget to reinstall that. The only difference in the motors themselves is that the A/C cars have a hole in the side of the motor for a rubber hose to attatch to and the non A/C cars don't. I believe the hose is just there to help cool the motor. Back in the day we sold lots of A/C blower motors to guys without A/C by simply putting a piece of black tape over the hole. The "squirrel cage" is another story. I do believe there were a few different ones used in various GM cars over the years. If you don't care about numbers any auto parts store should carry the motor. This guys Ebay ad gives you a good idea of how many different cars use the same motor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/67-68-69-70-91-Chevy-Camaro-Z28-Heater-Blower-Motor-New_W0QQitemZ310121938213QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors _Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item310121938213&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1171%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A131 8 Here also is a pic stolen from another Ebay auction that shows the hole I'm referring to. That particular auction says it fits A/C as well as non-A/C cars. Originally non-A/C cars came from the factory without the hole so they won't work on an A/C car.

Here is a pic of my 69 with A/C, looking thru access hole that previous owner cut in my inner fender to access the motor and wires. Pretty handy hole actually :D

I did the motor swap about 30 years ago. Used an AC motor and larger squirrel cage and black tape over the hole. Before the swap I could hardly feel the air move, even on high. Now when on defrost my eyeballs dry out.
