I'm hopefully going to be looking at what the seller calls an '86 Z28 so I can get the transmission from it, if it's a 700R4 that is. I've read where the '86 and newer 700R4's are the better overdrives to swap to. I have an '84 but I've heard they are weaker compared to slightly newer ones.

If it IS a Z28, I know there are three engine\transmission combinations.

I can ID an '86 Camaro and a 700R4 pretty easy so that's no problem. I may be wrong but shouldn't the trans in an '86 be a 700R4? I know there's 2 carb engines and one TPI engine. Would they have the exact same transmission or is one better to snag than another?

The info that I can find labels the transmissions as an M5 or an A4.
What's the difference? Is there a sticker, label or plate somewhere on an '86 Camaro that will list one of those codes so I can be sure?

If he doesn't want a lot for it, I'm going to sell a TH350 and the '84 700R4 and put this newer one in my '69.

**Upon further surfing, I think I determined that this tranny would be the exact same thing as what I already have. Just newer.
Bummer!
