I am running a 282/290 roller with mine, Seems to be right for my combo. I was running 9.9 compression before, 10.3 now. You did not mention your heads.

Why doesn't your builder like the cam?
Is this cam well thought out and matched to your other components or just picked for rpm range and noise?
I'd say the reason he does not like it is because your compression is a little on the low size for that one, maybe not with a 383 stroker?
I know cams with 280*-290* perform the best around 11:1-12:1
Compression, both static but mostly dcr with a n/a motor builds horse power.

What heads? You say they're ported but are they ported smoggers or AFRs? Also, what rear gear and tranny? And do you need vacuum?

With 9.6 to 1 you are much better forr with either a XE274 or Voodoo 276.

3.73 gears,Manual T-400 low 1st gear w/GV O/D,heads are just iron 76cc (9.6:1)chamber ported to outflow edel.alums.He says can't run that cam w/1.6 rockersI have a set World Mowtowns w/220 runners and 64 cc (11.2:1) I thought would make good combo ?

Sounds a little fishy to me. I think your car would run great with the cam you like. I have the 282 solid cam in my 388 and I feel like it wants more cam.

I was going to install the World heads and this cam together, however he feels 11.2:1 is too much compression for the street. Our prem.is 91 at best most places ! Pistons are KB134 7cc

MoTowns 220's are ALOT of head for a street car. I would get a roller cam. somewhere around 276 or so. It would be a great pulling little motor all the way to 6000 or so, even with the iron heads.
