Think about this. In about September of 2016, seven years and change from now, we'll be celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the arrival of the first of the first gens; the 67.

I need a beer.

Apparently the world is going to end in 2012 anyways.
Drink up.

(for the record I don't support the Myan calendar 2012 theory)

I wonder what they will do in 2016 for the 50th anniversary? A flying car like the Jetsons? Or do what DMC did. make a very rare limited run of some gold cars. (don't know why they did it anyways)

DMC, you mean the "DeLorean Motor Company"??

They were brushed SS! Not gold.

Another onna ol' pdq67's stories.

Back about 11/'67 after we got married, we moved into the second apartment in a house w/ an old Lady that her Son and D-i-L fixed up the house so she could still live in it.

We got a break on the rent for a BRAND NEW 3 room fully functioning apartment for like $70/month b/c they wanted us to watch out for and help Mom out as well as me mow the yard and take care of the snow and such.

We jumped at the deal.

Anyway, talking to our new Land Lady, we found out that she was like 80 years old, and was raised between two S. Baptist Preachers, her Dad and one of her Brothers whatever, further talking found that she was raised like 12, maybe 20 miles out from town to the NW on a farm and pretty-much had never been anywhere outside of the county in her life until recently.

She talked of walking to the one room school, horse-drawn wagon rides to town and such, no electricity or running water, no radio, no planes, etc growing up. She thought the TV was a marvel..

I think back at her and also marvel at all she saw change in her long life. Wonderful old Lady by me and my wife and I kinda became her GG kids b/c we were always around for the 4 or so years we lived w/ her.

The state came through and bought her house along w/ the rest of the block, tore everything down and she had to move and it was sad to watch her fret b/c of being up-rooted. The high rise is still in Moberly, MO right on N Morley street and as I drive by every so often, I sadly think back to simpler times. No reason to go back there b/c only Aunt Mary is there and now both my F-i-L and M-i-L are long gone.

I will be celebrating the arrival of my 69, in Dec 2018. I hope to be around. Guess my son will take it on for another 50? Guess I better plan on staying around til 2018, that will be about the time my 401K gets back to 2007 value.

im hoping by the 50th anniversary my 67 is actually back on the road lolI have empathy for these optimistic sentiments. My 67 has been off the road since 1995 (I've owned it since 1987). I hope to have at least the body work and paint finished by the end of the year....:hurray:
