My 67 seems to have had a later model subframe placed under it. I purchased the car this way. It is a tube car allready welded together. The problem I have is that the tires are too far forward in the wheel opening and hit the front of the fender openings on hard steers and on hard braking. I run tiny DS-2 drag tires up front so I really can go with a smaller tire. Has anyone else encountered this? Are there any other controll arms I need to swap out? It goes straight down the track but this has been nagging at me and I want to figure out what my options are.
Thanks

Sounds like you need to cut it apart and relocate the S/F back to it's stock position unless you can use adjustable A-arms to move the wheels back.
Try the big sticky over in Brakes and Suspension here.

Good luck and please keep us posted on what you do and how it turn's out.

I have heard some early Martz sub frames were 1" forward of stock. Do you see your sub on this web site?

David,
The subframe on my car looks like OEM. Are later model camaro subframes longer? I always thought that someone swapped a later model subframe on the car since the steering linkage is in front or the controll arms. I was considering modifying the upper controll arms so as to position the upper ball joint back about 2 inched giving me more caster and clearing the front of the fender.

Heck, I bet that you have a 2nd Gen. S/F under her and somebody didn't get it lined up right is all so probably the easiest thing to do is pull it out and do it right, match it to a 1st Gen's S/F mounting system and go!

If it's a front steer subframe, it can't be original.
Many people ask about putting a front steer in to get better handling, but I have never seen it done. Can you post some pictures?
It might be a second gen Camaro or a 1975 and up Nova?

Please do a search under my handle b/c I've posted about doing this several times!
And I would to my car if I had access to a full shop!
You may have to go back into the Archive's, but my info is all here!
