Going to take the outer door handles of my 67 to a shop tomorrow to have them rechromed.
The first quote was $70 per handle, the second quote was $20 per handle. Both shops asked the same questions with the same answers given. Why the huge price difference? Is this something like "You get what you pay for?" Thanks in advance.

be sure to ask if they do the prep work there,

you will be suprised at how many "chroming" shops send the piece out for prep work, sure they can chrome, but do they prep them? this is happening around my area with the only guy in town swearing he does it all there, but his tank is only about as large as a lunchbox. so he sends them out and charges his cost + the other companies.. hence your 2 prices...

where can a person get them replated at in the Eastern Ky area? Is there anyone that does this in south eastern Tenn?

Bright Works in Franklin Ky. south of Bowling Green they do real good work. They do a lot of Camaro stuff. Are you going to Louisville next weekend to the swapmeet. It is a big one.If you need a ph number let me know.

...one thing that you can always ask a plater is what kind of copper they use. Acid copper(the best)or cynide copper(not so good). The guys that use acid copper are the ones you want to do business with cause if you need pits filled, it cant be done with cynide copper, its a very long expensive process.
