I just bought a 67 rs and something seems wierd with the headlight doors. The doors open with the park lights on and will shut if i turn the dash lights down, and open again when i turn up the dash lights again. The doors work fine with the switch to turn on the headlights. I owned a 67 rs years ago and i dont remember the light doors working this way. Any ideas?

Sound to me like you need to do a complete wire trace of the whole system. Do you have a wiring schematic?

That's way not correct! Sounds like you may have a suspicious splice in the circuit somewhere. To be activated by the dash lights dimmer seems to suggest something under the dash or near the switch.

To confirm the interior-side wiring is correct, find the light blue and brown wires that run through the firewall. They run together as a pair. The lt. blue should have 12V when the light switch is pulled fully out and the brown should have 12V only when the key is ON. Neither should have anything to do with the dash lights being dimmed or turned up.

Good luck!

Look for signs of heat as you examine the wires. It may have encountered a melt down at some point and the two wires mentioned above have fused together inside a harness somwhere. They like to do that burried in the harness where it's nice and cozy which keeps the heat in long enough to melt through.

Bingo! The brown and blue wires were hooked into the fuse pannel wrong. Hooked them up as you said, works pefectly!!:beers:

We need to start a tally sheet to keep track of these cool successes. Jim or Dennis should start one!
