I am putting the old chevy crate motor back on the road, it is a zzz 350, I believe it has 10-1 or 10.25-1 pistons and a roller cam, with dart sportman heads with crane roller tip 1.5 rockers it will go behind a 4speed and a 323 rear gear and a performer manifold with a 650 holley. I would like a steetable cam with the most bang for the buck...speedy

Off the top of my head, you might look at a roller that is somewhere in the neighborhood like 270/230, 110/106, and max. lift for what it is...

Should pull your 3.23 gears real good, imho...

Anybody else??

I like the good old CC 282S solid so I'd figure a roller like this is probably a a schosh tamer! But should make more upper low to midrange grunt!!!!!

The HOT LT4 cam works well in the ZZ motors.

Needs to be used with 1.6 rockers.

Ditto - look at the GM Hot Cam. Price is very good too if I remember.

Check the Comp 276HR. Very similar to the GM Hot cam without the expense of 1.6 rockers. I believe Comp can supply this with the stepped nose to work in the GM roller block.

It idles like my Grandma's Citation. .525 lift I & E. 218 @.050 I 228 @ .050 E. Pulls hard to 6,000. Definitely hotter cams out there, but very streetable - you'd be surprised how hard it runs.

Sure, the numbers are not that impressive, but they just plain work graemlins/thumbsup.gif From about 3000-6000, they pull surprisingly strong.

I guess all that GM R&D we pay extra for, actually might be worth it in this case;)

He, He!! Why do you think CC's 268HE and the Crane Little Fireball cam run's so good in our medium sized small block engines!!!

The suckers run even better in the 327 sized motor's!!! pdq67

Yeah, I have never heard anything but good about the Hot Cam.

Novaguy, with your taste for GIANT cams, the Hot Cam would be more suited for your lawnmower ;)

On a side note, if you guys have a chance read up on some of Lingenfelter's combos. (referring to his book, Lingenfelter on Modifying Small Block Chevy Engines ) I found that even his really balls-out setups seldom exceed mid 230* duration @ .050. Most of his hot street combos are mid 220's @ 050". Seems to be the hot trend these days - less static compression, less advertised duration, and really agressive lobes.

SpeedyZ - I will be at Milan and MIS both hopefully. Hope to see you there. Don't know about running faster though, I only ran an 11.92 the other day in between rain showers . . .
