I'm looking at a 70 z-28 with matching numbers engine and tranny (turbo 400) original carb, intake, dist., air cleaner. does not have original exhaust manifolds or smog. does have the original 12 bolt with 373 gears. body is bad. holes inthe floor front fenders not original, quarters not put on good. car is yellow w/black stripes originally. frame rails are in good shape and front frame looks good. how much is it worth and how much is it worth fixed up. thanks ed

Check this out in our Second GEN Section: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=150134

and the eBay item if active: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270333290463&viewitem

Matching Numbers 70Z the bidding stopped at $35,000, reserve not met and the car was not detailed but a nice daily ride.

I would say a Detailed Rider Original 70Z with none matching numbers would go for $25,000.

I'd give you 5K for the motor and tranny alone provided all the original pieces are still there.

I'd say a little more than that, but not much.

5-6k if it is #'s. The auto hurts some, seems like everyone wants a 4 speed in the 70 z's, although I LOVE my TH400 in my 70 Z COPO.

Done nice (driver) 30-35k in todays economy.

car does run. I would do frame off and rebuid every thing. It does not have any paper work but the engine is a CTC with the cars vin on it by the oil filter. also the vin is on the tranny. the guy is asking 15,000 but that is way to high. I was thinking around 10,000???? ed

By the time your done....10 MIGHT BE BETTER BUT STILL THATS A LOT OF COIN FOR THAT PROJECT!!!

We really need pictures to determine how much you would need to dump into the body. Sounds like you are in the body for another 10K and then add interior and missing original parts to that. 10 would be absolute max in todays market. Nice finished cars are out there for high 20's.

Make sure you check where the frame rails meet the rear part of the body. I have seen clean looking cars that had rotted away back there!
