Hey Guys I need some Tech Help,

I have a 68 camaro 396 with a Holley 600 Carb, New Distributor cap, New Wires, New Plugs etc. Just put in a new power valve. Distributor is electronic. Coil was a little corroded but I cleaned it up a bit. The car will fire right up and then after it warms up will sputter like its runnin out of gas and then dies. It is getting plenty of gas. Im not sure if it it a carb issue or electrical issue. Any tips or ides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Bad coil or fuel filter not flowing well. Is it smoking or popping?

When it shuts off, pull a plug wire and insert onto a Phillips screwdriver and hold the screwdriver shank about a 1/4 inch from ground, valve cover, etc., and crank it; no spark, either a bad coil, or module inside, or a corroded connection or missing ground strap from the coil to dist body inside the cap, if HEI.

If there is spark, then could be fuel. If engine is running too hot, say above 230°F, then fuel could be evaporating from the bowl(s). Kindda doubtful, but a possibility.

Or a faulty power lead to the dist. If aftermarket or HEI dist, you should not be getting power from the cloth covered wire. You should run a dedicated power lead from the fusebox labeled "IGN".

First off, you need to get rid of that tiny, Holley 600 cfm carburetor and run a Holley 750 cfm, as this is what big block Chevy motors require!.....You will definantly feel the difference in performance!.....And also, check to make sure that the choke is opening up fully when the engine is warm and make sure you have adequete fuel pump pressure and volume!
