hi, I've had a 1977 LT stored in my garage for 20yrs, I am the 2nd owner, everything was basically original except the headers / dual exhaust. I stripped and primed it 20 yrs ago and got sidetracked. 350, 4 sp, posi. f41 , the original owner wanted a Z-28 but the insurance differance made him order this car instead. I intended to put subframe connectors, maybe a small cage, and build a healthy 383 , more of a fun driver than a drag type car. Now I'm wondering if I should just repaint and keep original? I'm not must of a original freak, just want a car that handles and runs good.
This is a clean car, one quarter needs a patch and that's it for rust. Interior is very good, only the headliner is sagging. Just wondering what the value might be before I start modifying it. I do have all the original trim pcs etc and the original 14" rally rims also on the car.

Honestly the market right now isnt in for the big bumper years :(. Just keep the original stuff like I had except the engine, talk about a real boat anchor, really. Keep it a sleeper, looks stock, looks normal but it is a devil in sheeps clothing. Mine is pretty much a sleeper except for my cowl hood.

I was trying to find a car to replace the 72 I loved, long story but that car ended up in the San Antonio area back in the early 80's. It had a blue with white Motion style paint job. I'm not a fan of the 77's bumpers but the car was so clean I couldn't pass it up, plus it had a black interior like my 72. I'm gonna start on the body and paint first, then it will be pay as I go from there. Just gotta wait for some warmer temps,
thanks

Bob, If the car is clean by all means fix it. Most second gens have long rusted out or have been distroyed on the dirt tracks. I have a 76 I am fixing and beleive me there are not that many big bumpers on the streets. Me personally I would not go with the cage becouse it is to hard to undo once you do it. Hang on to all the original stuff, it will only get harder to find and more expensive to replace. I know how you feel about the cars you let go in the past. I had a 71 with a 396 4spd. but I also had 2- 77s and a 79 350 4 spd.To tell you the truth I regret selling all of them. Good luck
