when making jet changes, should i increase primary and secondary at the same time? and should i jump 2 sizes at a time or more. David

In my opinion, tackle one problem at a time. In other words, if you're problems are at part throttle cruise, change the primaries only. If the problem is at WOT, work on the secondaries. Also if a change doesn't produce the desired result, restore the original setting and try something else. As with most things, paritulcarly holly carbs, if you start changing multiple things at a time, you can soon end up way out of whack. Jumping two jet sizes is a good approach. Often a single jet size change will produce such a subtle result that you can't tell if it did any good or not. Just beware that there are other knobs to tweak besides jets, such a float level, secondary spring, secondary plate opening stop, etc.

Sorry I missed posting before last weekend. Let us know how you made out. If your track tuning move jets 2 steps as noted. Increase jet size until mph drops off, then go back to highest mph jet setting. Or save time and get an EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) meter with memory for highest EGT.

this thing is absolutely killing me! i know i have a high 11 second combo, but i just can't seem to get it there, i did not do any jet changes last weekend because i never could get it to hook like it should. here are my best runs
R/T-.546 .540 .508 :D .502 :D
60'- 1.746 1.729 1.742 1.783
330'-5.053 5.054 5.065 5.127
1/8- 7.821 7.830 7.851 7.916
mph- 88.76 88.63 88.23 88.01
1/4- 12.24 12.27 12.29 12.37
mph 110.58 109.96 109.22 109.76
i also had r/t of .510 and .515 :D
there were many more very similar runs. i have 28" et streets, drag shocks on all 4 corners, trick front springs, sway bar unhooked. i just can't seem to get my 60' times down. spins a few revolution coming out of the hole. i am moving my battery to the trunk and installing an aluminum radiator. i have been launching on the 2 step and trans brake. i might try launching without the 2 step next time. i tried air pressure adjustments and slide-a-link adjustments. just havn't hit that sweet spot yet. no need to tune the engine for more power if i can't get it to hook. try lowering the rear tire pressure about 4-6 lbs and running a stiffer rear suspension setup
good luck!Eric
